ACCESS STATEMENT FOR 1 CHAPEL STREET, FILEY This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors. Introduction 1 Chapel Street is ideal for those who want a truly relaxed and enjoyable self catering holiday, with beach and the town centre only a 5 minute walk away. The cottage sleeps up to 6 people and has 3 bedrooms And has been fully refurbished to make it a real home from home. We look forward to welcoming you. All buses can accommodate one wheelchair. Buses from Scarborough take approximately 20 minutes Bus times can vary, for further details see the bus operator's website - www.yorkbus.co.uk. Chapel Street is a narrow one way street and has no footpath The nearest Shopmobility is 6 miles away at Somerset Terrace in Scarborough, Tel. 01723 369910. We can arrange for shopping to be delivered in time for your arrival, please let us know your requirements when booking. Alternatively, there are several shops within very close proximity to the house including a new Tesco store. Key Collection, Welcome and Car Parking You will be met on arrival at the property and the key will be provided at that point Parking is not available at the house itself but there is Onstreet parking very close by. There is no dropped kerb. This area is well lit at night by street lights. Entrance to Property The front door is 750mm/29.5ins wide. There is 1 step to the front door. The entrance is well lit by a lamp on a timer. The floor covering inside the entrance is patterned vinyl. Halls, Stairs, Landings, Passageways The hall, stairs and landings are well lit using a combination of ceiling and wall lights. Passageways are 800mm/31.5ins wide. The floor covering is short pile carpet. The staircase to the first floor has 14 steps. Being the original cottage staircase, it is quite steep but there is a handrail. Sitting Room/Lounge The sitting room/lounge is situated on the ground floor with level entry from the hallway. The door opening to the lounge is 750mm/29.5ins wide. The room has a mixture of seating with sofas and soft chairs with non-feather cushions together with a low coffee table. Furniture can be moved. There is a wide screen digital television with remote control, subtitles, and a DVD player. Lighting is natural daylight and by night by overhead lighting used as well as a table lamps in the room. The flooring is short pile fitted carpet. Dining Room The dining room is situated on the ground floor with level entry from both the lounge and the kitchen. The door openings to the dining room from both the hallway and the kitchen are 750mm/29.5ins wide. The dining table (moveable side to side) has legs on each corner. From floor to lowest point of table (underspace) and is 760mm/29.75ins high. There is free space around the table. Chairs (all moveable) - 6 chairs with padded seats that have no arms,. Lighting is natural daylight with a ceiling light and table lamps around the room. Flooring is short pile fitted carpet. Kitchen The kitchen is situated on the ground floor with step free, level access from the dining room. The door opening to the kitchen from the dining room is 680mm/27.5ins wide. The door of the oven opens toward you and the handle is 340mm/13.5ins above the floor. The hob is 930mm/36.6ins above the floor. Worktop and sink are 930mm/36.6ins above the floor. Fridge freezer available, highest shelf in fridge 1340mm/52.75ins and lowest drawer in freezer 300mm/12.ins. Washing machine available - 850mm/33.5inshigh Glasses and crockery can be moved from wall cupboards to lower cupboards, if required, please request this when booking. Bedrooms and Sleeping Areas 1st Floor The first floor is reached by stairs only Bedroom 1. Bedroom with a double bed. Door opening 750mm/29.5inches The height of the double bed from the top of the mattress to the floor is 520mm/20.5ins. Bedroom 2 room with bunk beds. Bathrooms, Shower-rooms and Toilets The bathroom is on the first floor with step free, level access from the upstairs hallway. Door opening 750mm/29.5ins wide. The shower is over the bath. The bath is 550mm/21.75ins high. Toilet 400mm/15.7ins high. Wash basin 850mm/33.5ins high. Lever taps on the washbasin and bath. Well lit with overhead lights. Vinyl flooring. Garden We have a paved patio area which can be accessed from the kitchen by one step. Door opening to outside is 750mm/29.5ins. 190mm /75incheswide 4.1metres/161.5inches Theres is an upper areae reached by 2 steps with a wooden table & chairs, and a bench. A bbq is available. The garden area is 5.6 metres/ 221inches long and 3.9 metres/153inches wide with flower beds. Additional Information Assistance dogs are welcome. All areas in the cottage have good colour contrast between the floor, doors and walls. Generally, doors and doorframes are dark wood and walls are light in colour. The mobile phone reception is good. The nearest General Hospital with an A&E unit and walk in NHS is 7 miles away in Scarborough and the nearest Doctor's surgery is in Filey near the bus station about 200 metres away.
