Situated on the Cliffside overlooking Whitby Bay this unique venue offers a range of different spaces, catering for a host of events.

The Pavilion Theatre boasts an atmospheric Victorian interior, combined with the modern dance and concert hall, to play host to a number of arts and leisure activities. Stage showsdances, major festivals/concerts, fund-raising and children's events, exhibitions and conferences, not to mention a whole range of private functions, meetings and community events.

Catering facilities are available for every event from pre-theatre drinks to daytime refreshments and gala dinners. The glass atrium, which houses the permanent café area, has stunning panoramic sea views from Sandsend Nab through Due North to Whitby's east and west piers.

The Pavilion is nestled into the West Cliff and can be reached on foot from the West Cliff car parking area, or from the beach access footpaths. Access is along the 'Spa' Drive from Whitby's famous Whalebone Arch. Disabled access to the building is gained by following the 'Spa Drive' and driving alongside the Theatre.

First opened in 1880, Whitby Pavilion remains Whitby's largest and most popular entertainment venue, providing something for all tastes from Gothic to Gaelic, with festivals returning year after year.

By Road:
From A1(M)/M1 jct 45 take A64 east (York ring road south). Follow A169 from Malton through Pickering over the moors to A171 jct. Turn right to Whitby and follow West Cliff signs. Other routes, A171 from Middlesbrough or from Scarborough.
Access road to theatre descends from Cook Memorial at eastern end of West Cliff. Car parking (Pay and Display) on access road or West Cliff, or seafront (free).

Public Transport Details
Bus - Access road to theatre from Cook Memorial may be reached via circular routes of town Tour Buses from many points of Whitby and by circular route of the steam bus from many points on the West side of Whitby.
