1, 000 acres of breathtaking landscape filed with temples, statues, lakes and fountains. Inside the walled garden you will find collections of old and new roses, plus ornamental vegetable garden. While the serpentine pathways of Ray Wood reveal seasonal collections rhododendrons, azaleas, magnolias and Pieris. Outdoor-guided tours take place between March and November and these tell the stories of the gardens and architecture. For children there are boat trips on the Great Lake and an adventure playground. Visitors to the gardens can also visit the exhibition wing, house gift shop and self-service restaurant free of charge when the House is open. Additional shops and cafés are available in the Stable Courtyard (open all year).

Castle Howard is located 15 miles north east of York, just off the A64.

We are pleased to announce that Stephensons of Easingwold Ltd now run a scheduled bus service between York and Castle Howard, and Malton and Castle Howard. You also receive discounted entry to Castle Howard on presentation of your Stephensons ticket.

The services run every day, except Sunday and Bank Holidays.
