Scarborough Cricket Festival 2013 at Scarborough Cricket ClubScarborough Cricket Festival 2013 at Scarborough Cricket Club

The Scarborough Festival is an end of season series of cricket matches featuring Yorkshire County Cricket Club which has been held in Scarborough, on the east coast of Yorkshire, since 1876.

The ground, at North Marine Road, sees large crowds of holiday makers watching a mixture of first class county cricket, one day fixtures and invitation XIs in the early September sunshine every year. Many of the world's greatest cricketers have played in festival matches over the years.

127th ANNUAL FESTIVAL

This year sees the 127th year of the festival, which started in 1876 a year after the first MCC visit to the ground. At that time the ground still had its limitations, and members of the press, who were not provided with covered facilities, were often scathing in their criticism.
Partly because of this in 1877 substantial alterations took place, supported by John Woodall and the Lords Londesborough and Derwent, so that the ground largely assumed the form it retains to the present day. Over the years many improvements have been made and in 2011, there were major improvements.

Yorkshire will first appear at North Marine Road on the 5th June for First Division action against 2010 County Champions Nottinghamshire. That is followed by a 40-over encounter against the Leicestershire Foxes, before Yorkshire take on the Durham Dynamos in a repeat of the first t20 game to be played at North Marine Road on 30th June.
