Turnstone GalleryTurnstone Gallery overlooks the fine sandy bay at Sandsend, just a two mile stroll along the beach from Whitby. Harry and Bridget Casson opened the gallery in 2002 with the aim of showing the best in fine art and ceramics, specialising in work from the region. At the Turnstone visitors will always find a broad range of contemporary work – original paintings, etchings, ceramics, sculpture, photographs and enamels.
The aim is to make high quality artwork accessible to all and the gallery has an open and friendly atmosphere where everyone is welcome. The light and airy space, with large windows looking out to the headland and sea, provides an ideal setting for viewing the work.
With regularly changing displays of work, and exhibitions twice a year, there is always something new to find and enjoy. The gallery participates in the ‘Own Art’ scheme, supported by the Arts Council, which provides interest free loans for customers purchasing artwork. An area for children to sit and draw allows parents time to look around the gallery.
