CastletonCastleton

One of the main routes over the moors runs from Hutton le Hole to Castleton. The village is built on the edge of the steep hillside overlooking Esk Dale. As the name suggests, it was the site of a medieval castle. This is the key village in the area and a winding main street has an almost continuous terrace of houses on either side. The Parish Church (1926) has furniture by Robert Thompson (The Mouseman) of Kilburn.
